Internet Marketing Tips - Stop Being Such A Cheap Skate

Occasionally, I like to write articles that bring me lots complaints. Why? Because I thrive on it. Nothing like getting the old dander up, I always say. Well, if you read this article through to the end, you’ll find out just how much of a cheap skate you may or may not be. I have no doubt that the flood of emails and comments I will get from this piece will be considerable and vocal. Give me your best shot.

If you want to be a successful Internet marketer and run a real business…not just sell some stuff…then you can’t be a cheap skate. And trust me, I was one for a very long time. I’ll be the first to admit it. Know where it got me? It got me absolutely nowhere. I was just about making the poverty level with my Internet income. That’s certainly not what I call being successful.

Okay, so what exactly should you be spending your money on? Certainly there are things that you can live without. However, there are some things that many marketers either seek out cheap solutions for or flat out don’t use at all. I’m going to give you a few examples.

Autoresponders are a perfect example. I can’t even begin to stress how important it is to build your list, especially your list of buyers. These are people who are most likely going to buy from you again, especially if they liked your first product. If you lose track of these folks, you’re losing money. And yet, so many marketers either don’t use autoresponders or they go for the real cheap or free ones. Let me tell you, as far as delivery rate goes, you get what you pay for. Dig into your wallet and spend the money on a good autoresponder like Aweber or GetResponse. You’ll be thankful that you did.

Another thing is web hosting. So many marketers go for free hosting. Free hosting has so many limitations that there is no way you can build a successful business with it. Again, pull out that credit card and plunk down $20 a month for a great hosting package. And as your business expands, get yourself a dedicated server for $200 a month. Your bottom line will thank you in the long run.

I could give you many more examples, but I think you got the point. If you’re going to run a successful business online, especially in the area of actual marketing, you have to spend money. Adwords is probably the most efficient way to bring people to your site. Yes, it costs money, but there is no better way to bring massive amounts of traffic to your business.

So stop being such a cheap skate.

Run a REAL business.

To YOUR Success,

Steven Wagenheim

Search Marketing - Turning Your Website Outside-In to Increase Sales

Many companies are disappointed in the results they get from their Web site. They spent a lot of money on design and content…there may be thousands of unique visits recorded, but very few calls are resulting. Most companies have Web sites that reflect an “inside-out” orientation, what we in the search engine marketing business call “brochure ware.” The original purpose was met, to provide information, but as a result, the Web site is like a flyer that is skimmed once and then thrown away.

All the money spent on attracting interest from prospects is wasted if the interest isn’t reciprocated. Reaching far beyond a brochure, the Web provides a rich media environment and two-way data-driven communication. This should drive a Web site with an “outside-in” approach, one that is wrapped around the wants and needs of the prospect. Your web site is the most valuable real estate you own. The web provides a single point of access between you and your market–it can offer 360-degree visual tours, audio or video testimonials, brochures on demand, discount coupons, and client references–at the same time it can gather information about your prospect and deliver instantaneous, completely free follow-up.

Especially on the web, successful marketers anticipate the needs of the prospect, and they work constantly to understand “the mind of the market.” Search engine optimization helps your site focus on attracting prospects, giving them exactly what they are looking for. Once prospects get to your site, the images and words you use are important, but they have to be part of a larger sales strategy, one that incorporates powerful, motivating messages and two-way methods of communication. This “sales flow optimization” is just as important to your success as SEO.

Sales Flow: The Secret to Successful Search Engine Marketing

Historically, sales organizations have been very poor at converting leads into sales. They have asked the marketing team to give them only hot leads: prospects with budget, a timetable, and a list of people involved in the decision. Marketing was expected to “qualify” each prospect and deliver the hot leads to sales. Today, the prospect qualifies YOU, not the other way around. One of our largest clients was using a lead form with 19 fields…not just name and phone number, but size of the expected order and time-to-decision! We told the marketing team that their “sales” department ought to be renamed the “order taker” department! This form was used by prospects only 3% of the time…meaning, 97% abandoned the site rather than fill out the form. Now, this company gets the information incrementally, over a few weeks…but they are closing over 200% more business from the web.

Converting a prospect into an active lead on the web takes courtship. You are wooing, building a relationship. That takes really trying to learn what people are looking for, to get into the customer’s head. Knowing that most prospects are looking for specifications and pricing, you can make your data sheets easy to find, and maybe even have a downloadable price list. When they print out the price list or the data sheet, they get the contact information to follow up. These days, companies find out they are on the short list just a short time before the customer buys. That’s the power of effective search engine marketing, but it’s a brave new world for the sales person who thinks he or she is in control of the relationship with the prospect.

All You Need To Know About Pay Per Click Advertising

What is Pay Per Click Advertising?

It is just as it sounds. You place an advertisement, usually text or graphic, and you pay each time someone clicks that advertisement. Sounds simple enough right? Though simple, it is a very powerful form of advertising that in many cases makes more sense than other methods of advertisement. How does Pay Per Click Advertising work and why is it the best choice for your business? That is a good question, let’s have a look.

Targeted Audience

With Pay Per Click advertising, also known as PPC, you have the ability to target your unique audience. Sure, you have other methods of advertisement that may target a portion of your customer base, but with PPC, you have a more defined method of targeting. You target your specific customer base with solid keywords. These keywords are crucial to your advertisement. If you operate a chocolate business, you might use keywords such as chocolate, chocolate candy, candy, gourmet chocolate, and the list could actually continue to grow.

However, what makes PPC so useful is that it incorporates these keywords to make it work for you. Your pay per click advertising will not show up until a user searches for your keyword terms. The next way that PPC works best for businesses is that it works well within your budget.

Costs and Budgets

The great thing about pay per click advertising is that it is designed to work within any budget. With many sites that promote PPC advertising, you have the ability to define just how much you are willing to pay. However, it is important to note that you will likely be in competition with other businesses, depending on your keyword. The more you pay per click the higher you will be on the search engine results; this is of course dependent upon your competitors and what they bid to pay as well.

As your pay per click campaign goes along, you will have the ability to monitor your campaign. If at any time you feel that your specific campaign is not working as well for your business as you had hoped, you can change it, add another, or delete the campaign as you see fit.

What makes pay per click advertising so appealing is that you are only charged when someone clicks on your advertisement, hence the name pay per click. With other advertising methods, you are charged when your advertisement is displayed or rotated. With PPC, you pay only when a potential customer clicks on the advertisement to visit your website. This is a great cost efficient method of advertisement.

Just Works Better

Pay per click advertising just works better because you know, if you have chosen the right keywords, that when someone clicks on your ad to visit your site, that they are doing so because they are truly interested in what you have to offer via their search terms. This means that each and every person that clicks on your advertisement is a targeted potential customer, which means more likelihood for a sale or membership.
